More than 600 million Sub-Saharan Africans lack access to electricity. With strongly growing
populations, this number can only increase. Energy Access Ventures (“EAV”) is a venture capital
fund that invests in early stage innovative global technology companies as well as local
entrepreneurs seeking to resolve the lack of access to reliable power in Sub-Saharan Africa. Their
focus is on technology and business models pertaining to off grid and poor-grid in Africa.
The fund has preeminent investors including the CDC, European Investment Bank, Proparco, OFID
as well as Schneider Electric, a world-leading multinational in energy management technologies
and solutions. Their team is based in Nairobi and has both substantial operating and investment
EAV is seeking a dynamic, passionate and technically strong Analyst to join their team in Nairobi.
The role would include supporting in-market analysis and deal origination, assisting in duediligence
of potential portfolio companies and monitoring of portfolio companies.
The Analyst will assist the partners in the following:
(a) Sourcing and initial screening of potential investments.
(b) Preparation of investment proposals.
(c) Due diligence including assessment of financial, operational, social and
(d) Deal structuring including drafting term sheets and other legal documents as well as
(e) Post investment portfolio support and monitoring.
(f) Other duties as appropriate.

The ideal candidate will be looking to build an investment focused career and have several or all of

? Excellent undergraduate degree in Science, Finance or Engineering from a leading

? The successful candidate must show compelling evidence of drive and success throughout
their academic and non-academic activities to date.
? 3 to 4 years relevant work experience from a Tier 1 institution is a prerequisite
